Beverly Wilson Passes Away

Beverly Wilson, longtime CEO of the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, Calif., passed away on Dec. 31, 2007. She was 79 years old. She is survived by her children Suzanne Wilson, Bill Wilson, and Gregory Wilson, and three grandchildren.

Ms. Wilson began her stint at the fair in 1968 in the business department. She became CEO in 1972 and held the post until 1993. Ms. Wilson goal was to create an event with strong, positive values for youth. She administered over one of the most financially successful and responsible fairs in California. Ms. Wilson served on a multitude of statewide industry boards and committees to protect the future of fairs.

Charlie Barboni, former Sonoma-Marin fair board member, said Ms. Wilson was a pioneer in bringing top entertainment acts to the fair. In 2003, she was inducted into the Western Fairs Association Hall of Fame.
